I love the idea of asking myself: “Is this something I want to take into my future.”
Or, Marie Kondo’s signature coaching question: Does this spark JOY?”
It was a few years back when I first heard of Marie Kondo's philosophy of organizing after CONNI PONTURO suggested I read the book. And, the two of us decided to dedicate a full episode of a MARSH ENGLE RADIO podcast on VOICE AMERICA to discussing the book. But, the idea of Tidying Up didn’t catch fire in me until I tuned in to the show on Netflix.
Now I’m a FAN. (Underscored and BOLD!) I’m 3 giant shopping bags into my Tidying Up process. And I didn’t even know I felt any clutter, at ALL!. The concept is simple. And brilliant. And it works!
It’s no wonder, then, that Marie Kondo’s “tidying” practices have spawned a not so tiny empire. The petite Japanese woman’s visibility skyrocketed after publishing the best-selling The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up (Kondo actually wrote the book as a stopgap to appease the long waitlist for her tidying consultation services). It, along with its follow-up Spark Joy, has sold more than 7 million copies worldwide, and her work has been translated into 38 languages.
So, amazing women with a collection of ideas sitting on the shelf — Dust off those fresh innovative ideas. Package them. Work it. The world may very well be waiting for exactly what you have tucked away in your closet or bookshelf or desk drawer!
